NEUROLOGICAL CONDITIONS
Bell's Palsy
Bell's palsy is a condition that causes sudden weakness in the muscles on one side of the face. Often the weakness is short-term and improves over weeks. The weakness makes half of the face appear to droop. Smiles are one-sided, and the eye on the affected side is hard to close.
Symptoms
Onset is acute. Sometimes history of exposure to cold is present. Mild pain at stylomastoid foramen for a few days may precede the palsy. Examination shows islolated lower motor neuron facial paralysis with or without loss of taste sensation at anterior two-third of tongue and hyperacusis.
Features of lower motor facial nerve palsy
Paralysis of all the muscles of facial expression on the side of palsy.
Drooping of corner of mouth, effacement of creases and skin fold on the affected side.
Weakness of frowning and eye closure as the upper facial muscles are weak.
Drooling of saliva from angle of mouth.
On asking the patient to show his teeth, the angke of mouth deviates away from the side of lesion.
Upon attempted closure of the eyelid, the eye on the paralysed side rolls upwards (Bell's phenomenon).
Corneal ulceration due to inability to close the eye during sleep.
Treatments
This condition being an acute condition due to virus involved needs treatment which kills this virus and also help your paralysed muscles recover back to normal. Homeopathy has a combination of these things in its medicine where it fights against the virus as well as recovers the paralysed muscles. Homeopathy acts on central nervous system and nerves very effectively. Such acute conditions are cured within no time and also very gently without any side effects.
Few homeopathic medicines which help in such cases are causticum, aconitum nappelus, cocculus etc.
Physiotherapy may be also required to recover the normal strength and functions muscles back to normal.
