Styes
It is a suppurative inflamation of the follicle of the eyelash including the glands of Zies.
Causes
Predisposing factors
Age: It can occur in any age but common in young adults.
Metabolic factors: diabetes, debility and excessive intake of carbohydrate.
Causative agent: coagulase positive staphylococcus.
Symptoms
Acute pain in the lid margin with a sense of heaviness and heat.
Swelling, redness and marked oedema of the affected lid.
Marked tenderness at the point of inflammation on the lid margin.
Chemosis of the bulbar conjuctiva may occur.
Finally a white pus point becomes visible on the lid margin in relation to the root of a cilia.
Enlargement of the corresponding pre-auricular lymph gland.
Treatments
Stye can be an acute condition or can happen repeatedly. Acute remedy in Homoeopathy helps in removing the stye as a whole and thereby its symptoms of pain and redness. In case it is recurrent the chronic constitutional medications help in removing the stye and also its tendency to recur from the body.
